(Warning
The weekend from H377
– this is a non-hunter related post. We’ll get back to our regularly scheduled Hunter stuff later tonight and tomorrow.)
As many of you know this weekend was the ultimate of frustration. I woke up early on Saturday all excited about my new secret project only to have the kabash put on it when my machine decided to finally say, “No more Mr. Nice Guy!” and start repeatedly giving BSoD (for you lucky Mac and Linux users it’s that dreaded blue screen with white text and some funny long code. Trust me.. you’re better off not knowing.)
Anyways, after trying to be the hero and apply my over 20 years of IT knowledge into fixing this. (HEY! I did design a network using satalite communication once, so how hard could this be!) Well, let’s just say after about 5 hours of doing everything we could, I had to declare it brain dead. It was time to harvest parts (read backup data) and perform a complete overhaul.
So, about 43 hours later, here we are. A functional laptop running Windows Vista. (Yes, the jury is still out on this, but I think I’m slowly comming around to say it’s not ALL that bad.) I get a free upgrade to Windows 7 so its not all bad. Only thing is, I’m not sure this old bucket of plastic parts will run it.
Anyways, that’s the down side. The upside is people were overwhelmingly supportive. (Thanks gang!)
Also, I shouted out on Twitter that I was looking to see if there was an open source or free version of FRAPS out there. I even jokingly asked for someone would just donate one. (Lesson learned. Be careful what you ask for, even joking, because you might get it.)
Yep, I got FRAPS donated by two readers!! SWEETNESS!! I’ll use their Twitter names since I’m not entirely sure if they wanted this public knowledge or not. Anyways, @Kordwar and @LuapNagrenol, you have my ultimate gratitude and added to The Hunting Lodge lifetime sponsors list. (Well, they’re really the only 2, unless we count Wertez for The Hunter DPS Spreadsheet.)
