The Hunting Lodge is a World of Warcraft Hunter community website. We love to have guest bloggers send in posts ideas or even full posts. Just like this week’s post written and submitted by Jjohnson (H-Uther).
So there I was sitting in Heroic Drak’Thorn Keep waiting for our tank to get back from whatever it was that he was doing. In instances like this I usually take the opportunity to inspect the players I’m with. I notice that on recount I’m second in DPS to the mage, which is odd, but hey I got some sweet upgrades over the weekend. But the hunter we have with us should be out DPSing me or at least be a lot closer than the 700 DPS to 1000 DPS I’m ahead of him. So I open the inspect window and start looking at gear. Mostly purples which is nice. Looking further however I see that it’s all PvP gear with resilience on it. I’m leveling a hunter so don’t know everything that I should, but I do know PvP gear is not good and a turtle for a pet is not good as well. So I whisper him.
Me: Any reason why your running PvP gear?
Him: Didn’t know there was another type of gear.
At this point I realize he’s probably a newbie, which is fine and found that he likes PvP (or so it appears). So we chat a bit, I give him my limited knowledge on hunting (should be using a wolf or cat for DPSing (raptor?), get hit capped, and continue to stack agility) and we finish the instance. And it left me with this thought: Why are hunters the most miss understood class in the game?
I’m being serious here. They have to be the second most talked about classes in the game (behind tanking) and there’s great information out there. So why is it that most any time that I roll with a hunter they aren’t at hit capped, have PvP gear or have some equipment with defense of all things (or any other of a variety of issues)? This doesn’t happen all the time, but on 3 occassions that I’ve rolled with a hunter (and they are few and far between for some reason on my server) I’ve had one of the above issues.
So hunters of the world, why are you the most misunderstood with all the information out there?
