Advisory – Click here if you’re offended by anything having to do with the Adult Entertainment industry. If you’re not interested in hearing the story of this weeks guest then please move on.
I’ve never been one to shy away from things that might be considered a bit controversial. In the past we’ve tackled some pretty weighty topics here. We’ve talked about the in-game harassment, homosexuality and the gaming community, and even couple gaming. Okay that last one might not be considered entirely controversial, but it playing with your significant other can sometimes be a stressful experience.
So that brings us to the topic of our discussion this week. I’ll be honest the topic did give me pause. But after talking to our special guest and giving it some serious thought, I decided this was an interview hat you really had to read.
This week we’re going to meet a truly interesting person. Amber is your typical mildmanner mid-20yr old lady. She has a normal job. She parties with her friends but also enjoys some quiet time playing games. By night, she heads off and becomes a camgirl gamerchick So I really hope you’ll enjoy this interview as much as I did. Without any further ado, let’s meet Amber.
Oh, and if you’re still here, this is your last chance to leave and not be any more offended than you already are.
THL: Let’s get the easy stuff out of the way. I know you’re Amber. You play WoW as well as other games. But people out there don’t really know you. Can you give us some background so we might get an idea of who Amber is?
@Amberlynnegirl: I am a pretty shy, geeky So Cal girl. I was always the quiet one in school. hah. Only child, so all I had was video games growing up: Nintendo, then Playstation, and eventually a PC. Now I work a “desk job” during the day, fit in gaming when I can, and play on cam as a 2nd job

And for those out there that might not believe it, you’re a real girl right? Not “One of those guys” that hide behind a female avatar and then surprises us with a “deep manly” voice when we hop on vent. Right? Hopes.
Definitely a real girl. Extremely girly! I am one of those annoying girls who actually dislike having an ugly toon, in any game I am playing. I think this is why I have so many more Alliance toons than Horde
.
And I think I distract my guildies when I speak on vent!
Ah. so a girly geek-girl, this is gonna be fun. And by Horde or Alliance, that means you must be really into World of Warcraft?
It’s certainly the game that has held my interest the longest. I got into MMO’s by tinkering in Asheron’s call and Ever Quest, but this is the only one that stuck. I’ve been playing since right after launch. On and off, I’ve needed a few breaks.
I am also trying out Aion right now. It’s “cute” but it’s WoW in Asian themed clothing.
Really? WoW since launch. EQ, Asheron’s Cal and now Aion!? That’s some serious MMO cred you’ve earned.
I did some time with RPG’s. I played a few of the later Final Fantasy games. Played through Star Ocean 2 twice, and Dragon Quest
So that means we can probably drill you on things like class, character and what not? As well as what the differences are between the games.
Not too often you find someone with that background.
Sure, hit me with your best shot!
Fair enough: Let’s hit some lobs. You said mainly Alliance, so we’ll have to ask your class?
I’m a bit of a leveling and alt freak, so I am embarrassed to say I only have one 80. She’s a Human Mage, Arc/FFB Dual spec.
My most recent work has been on a Draenei Priest, who has a mish mosh of awful spec right now

So we’ve established you’re mostly an RPG/MMO fan. And it seems you prefer the high fantasy type of game play. Does that mean you’re also into table top RPG’s like D&D?
Honestly I’ve always been to shy to do a table top role play.
Really? Interesting.
Of course, talking about being shy does make us wonder about your job, but before we do that.
There’s a perception that women that play games are either overweight housewives, or bored college girls. You break that mold because you’re a “Professional” by day and an established Adult Entertainer by night. Mind sharing what’s your day job?
Basically I am just an over-achieving office assistant. I’ve worked with the company for a long time, and the owners are old friends, so I guess it’s pretty comfy.
nteresting choice of words, comfy. That usually entails that you’re also in a committed relationship?
I am not in a committed relationship, but I do have prospects
![]()
So to help put all those housewives and girlfriends at ease though, you’re not out scoping their “guy” right? If they find you, they’ve already been looking?
Hah yeah. I am not looking for anyone, or looking to woo anyone’s man
![]()
lol fair enough. Mind if we talk about your second profession as an Adult Entertainer or more specifically, a CamGirl?
CamGirl FTW!
Well of course we have to know how someone wakes up one day and says “I think I want to be a CamGir!” How long ago did you decide this was the job for you and what made you decide to go online?
I’ve been toying with the idea for nearly a year. I came across a post about it on Ask Metafilter, and it piqued my curiosity.
Since then I joined a couple of the sites as a member (it helps that I like to look at cute girls anyway!) and saw how it worked. In the middle of this Summer I finally just said “Yeah, I think I can do that!”
So I submitted my info and waited for an approval. The day I got approved, I went out and had a few beers then logged on. It was overwhelming but soooo exciting all at the same time.
So you never did any modeling, dancing or other Adult Entertainment before?
I was a cheerleader in high school. That’s as close as I have gotten, hah.
That’s interesting. It almost makes you sound like you’re every father’s nightmare. The perfect Daddy’s girl gone bad.
Hah yeah. For sure.

That makes me wonder about a perception out there. Some say the women who go into dancing or some type of Adult Entertainment are really trying to get back at their parents or are making up for some long deep psychological hurt.
What do you think about this? Is there some truth to it?
Jeez that’s deep! Hmm… I think there may be some truth to that for some girls. But I can’t quite figure that out. Maybe my parents splitting up when I was 13 pushed me to start stripping on the Interwebz…
Basically, there might have been something that as you said “pushed you to start” but not every girl out there is trying to make up for some deep dark secret, right?
No I don’t think so. Regardless of past, getting attention is fun. I will definitely admit I like the attention.
Well speaking of attention. Working in a high profile job and playing a social game would seem to carry some personal risks. Like stalkers or someone seeing you and going “Aha!” either in game, at work, even at the local grocery store.
Do you ever find yourself looking over your shoulder or concerned?
Hah for the first month I was doing this, every guy that made eye contact with me made me think twice. Anything from “OMG does he recognize me?!” to “Hmm, I wonder if he ever watches CamGirls, is he the typical fan?”
As far as stalkers, I do make sure to keep personal details private, because there are scary people out there.
Considering that WoW has over 11.5 million subscribers, and the thousands of people see you online, I’d say those odds are still a bit scarce. But I’m glad you keep it safe and you keep private life private, and your work life work. (Btw folks, if you haven’t figured it out, Amber is not her real name it’s an alias so don’t go beating up your best friend just because their sister might be called Amber okay?)
Hahaha.
Okay before I get myself in trouble and just lose ever possible reader, now might be a good time to switch topics and talk about some gamer questions?
Sounds good!
So back to your character’s of choice. You seem to stick with the caster class. You said you play a Mage and Priest. And, I think I saw you’ve also played a Warlock. What drew you to the caster side?
I don’t know what it is, but melee just isn’t my thing. I’ve always loved being able to stand behind the whole mess of action and just watch my hands glow
I tried a hunter. Pets just don’t listen to me, though
![]()
“Watch ‘your’ hands glow?” /sigh lol
Well that was going to be my next question. Since the hunter/ranger class is my preferred. Why not a hunter?
I don’t have the dexterity to be able to control a pet and my abilities at the same time. A main reason I shelved my Warlock.
(Side note: Seems we have one less Warlock to worry about.)
What about the other types of games. You mentioned a lot of RPGs so your not much of a Console, FPS or RTS gamer?
Well a few of my RPGs were on a console, PS2 to be exact. I think I always prefer PC.
I’ve tried a few FPS games. My reaction time and aim suck!! I am dabbling in Modern Warfare 2 lately.
I’ve also played Warcraft II and III as far as strategy goes.
That’s cool. I personally loved a good Doom or Quake frag fest in my day. But ever since consoles added 10,000 buttons on the controller, I’ve just given up.
What would you say is the one game you absolutely hate?
That’s a hard one. Um… I recall being completely appalled at Final Fantasy 10-2 and Kingdom Hearts.
OH and Age of Conan. I was so excited to play the new MMO when it came out, but it was awful.
LOTRO was also a huge disappointment. Hehe evidently I could go on and on…
Really? A lot of people have been disappointed with Age of Conan, but I’m surprised at Final Fantasy 10-12 and LOTRO. What about those do you hate?
It’s been a real long time since the Final Fantasy days for me, but I think it was something about how the game play changed in that volume as opposed to the last one I had played.
And LOTRO, I can’t quite put my finger on it. It just sucked lol.
2 more questions and I’ll get out of your hair.
With you playing WoW what character would you say you look most like, and which character would you say captures your personality?
Hah well I do think some of the Human girls on WoW look similar to me. My mage has quite a resemblance.
As far as personality, Night Elf Druid. One could say I shapeshift between my personalities (Office professional by day, naughty girl by night), and also have a sexy dance in true form!
ROFL! I can see that resemblence. And I’ll take a NElf druid anytime. <wink-wink> <nudge-nudge>
Of course I have to ask because everyone out there really wants to know, is there really money in being a camgirl? Or is it just for fun? And if so, do you think they’d take guys?
There are sites that have guys on camera! Yes, there is money to be made, but I think it takes a certain amount of effort and attitude to be successful at it.
Well Amber, I really appreciate you taking the time to chat with me and am truly honored to have met you.
It has been a blast!
As for attitude goes? You have the attitude I’m sure will take you far and make you very successful. Thank you ever so much. and Happy Huntting… er.. hmm Mage…I don’t know a good one. Happy Snowballing? perhaps?
Happy Pew Pew-ing!

That wraps up our talk with Amber. And if you’re like me, now you’re probably looking at that girl that rushes out of the office everyday right at 5pm and wondering, “Hmm.. do you think she play’s WoW?”

Interesting interview, Amber reminds me a lot of somebody I was previously guilded with (personality wise ofc)
