Discussion Topics

Class Balancing, DPS Analysis

Ghostcrawler was busy on the forums.  Two interesting conversations were on Guilds and Class Balancing.  As well as Ghostcrawler talks about how to “Analyze Highest DPS” mostly targeted at Locks  but can be applies to Hunters as well.

Guilds and Class Balancing:  (source)

  • They don’t balance solely around the top 5% (in PvP or PvE) however they are good barometers as to performance.
  • Ghostcrawler doubts a 5% buff will really add to your raids success rate in Heroic modes than improving your performance.

DPS Analysis:  (source)

  • Not  a lot o faith in the spreadsheet or other simulation tools
  • Recommends  using sites like World of Logs and and focus on Heroic modes, particularly 25 Northrend beasts. .
  • Don’t rely on PTR analysis
  • Best quote: “If you aren’t doing 8000 dps on Northrend Beasts (and very few of you are, especially heroic) then I don’t know how relevant it is that the best hunter in the world does more damage on that fight than the best warlock in the world. “

Tell us what you think

Here’s what you had to say?

When is a guild too big?

We got a lot of feedback about our discussion on guild sizes.

  • Hordespankers  sent us a txt message saying how he prefers between smaller guilds, having between 5 and 50 active members on at any given time.  It allows thim to get to know hisguildies.  The down side? When people get bored it can get slow as guildies log on less.
  • I think that 5000 members is way to big. Gy guild is small, only 10 member and there alts. I think a guild should be about 250 members max. - Magnion <Bad Company> Guild on theAnvilmar server
  • Tyberiuss Earthen Ring (AIE Guild)  gave an awesome list of good things about being is a huge guild. He also felt that we should have included someone from AIE if we were going to talk about them.    It should be noted that we had 2 AIE members in the chatroom.  But besides that I am working on schedule an interview with one of the AIE officers so stay tuned.

The Hunter Epic Quest

  • Kristyl of Turalyon sent us some pics (you can see one below) proving that the quest chain that seperated the real hunters from the pretenders is still available.  There are only two problems as I see it. First, even though you can start it at the correct level, you can’t complete it until you’re 80.  Also, the stats on the Rhok’delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers are still at level 60.

Hunters who Troll (not Troll Hunters)

  • From Twitter Rhebero asked “What do you think about hunter trolls? (not the race, I mean forum trolls) do you think they give us a bad name?”

When guilds don’t live up to their promise

  • What’s your thoughts on joining guilds with the intent to raid but never getting an invite from Mightychubbs on Rivendar

More on the great Warlock Hunt

  • “My main is a warlock, and I find this hilarious. As a player of the original evil class of the game (don’t even try to out do us, Death Knights), I find this truely masterfully evil.  Bravo hunters, I did not think you had it in you.” - Meraxa
  • Kaabrus of Concedo Nulli on Khagdar (YAY!! my guild!) Sent us another awesome video of a lock getting PWNED!!! (I’ll keep the name of the poor Warlock a secret since I’m sure it has to bee horribly embarrassing for them. bwaahaha! :P )

  • And if you’d like a suggestionn on how to hunt a warlock from Kajite <Vanguard> on Winterhoof sent this in:
    • Pet Bat with Sonic Blast: stun for  2sec or Nether Ray: Nethershock shadow dmg + interup + no spell casting in that school of spells for 2
    • Spec as a MM hunter put 2/2 into Imp concussive shot. Daze for 2 sec and  1/1 into Silencing shot to silence them for 3 sec + the damge and un load with all instances shots.
    • Kajite goes on to say that “.it seems to be working perty well if there not with in spell range and see you befor you atck. and they start chain Fearing WTF is up with that crap any how.” I have to agree, Locks seem to always cheat and chain fear!

Orthien on Dath'Remar

Orthien on Dath'Remar

Seems  even Paladin’s really want to be hunters!

  • Orthien a lvl 80 Prot Pally on Dath’Remar sent us pics of the gang of squirrels he sent over.
