I typically avoid doing memes like the plague. It seems that just as you get one finished, you end up being tagged by another one.
But when I found out that Nochecazador from Of Marks and Beasts had tagged me for this one, I couldn’t resist. It’s questions actually made me think a bit more. Heck, it almost felt like a mini-interview, and you guys know how I love interviews. Anyways, here it goes.
What did you do in World of Warcraft that you’ve never done before?
Oh sure, force me to think long and hard right off the bat. Alright wiseguy, we’ll break this question up into a couple of different things. Inside and Outside of WoW.
Inside Warcraft
Since WoW is set in fantasy world of Elves, Gnomes and Dwarves much of the same stuff I’ve done in other PC based and even paper based RPG happen here. But there is one thing I find interestig with this game. Even when I’m bored with one aspect, I can just take a break from that area and go play a different part.
For example, tired of grinding out quests? No problem! Maybe go PvP or even take a break and play the Auction House (alright, I’m not known for doing those two but you can).
Heck, now with Patch 3.3 it’s LFG FTW!! But seriously, I’ve been playing this game for about 5 years! One game for 5 years!?
That’s something I’ve never done before. I’d probably still play D&D if I could find a group nearby with a similar schedule. (Yeah, that’ll happen.) And as for any PC or exlectronic game? Those have long bit the dust. However WoW has managed to keep my interest and spur even other interest and hobbies outside the game.
Ouside Warcraft
Yeah, that’s right. This game has honestly inspired me to create a blog, then the Hunting Lodge Forums, and now The Hunting Lodge Podcast!
Not only have I done all of that, because of WoW I’ve had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream. Write professionaly. Yeah, it was a short 6 months, but hey! I did it! Writing for the Scattered Shots columns WoW.com was a dream come true.
So I guess there’s a ton of stuff I’ve never done before but now am thanks to this game.
What was your favorite new place that you visited?
I’m going to guess you mean in the game.. Hm.. so many choices. It really would be unfair to just pick one since I don’t have an aboslute favorite. But I can say with each expansion there are some zones I just can’t wait to get to.
For example, in Classic WoW I’m always looking forward to finally getting down to Feralas. Something about being trapped on an island with the Naga, then taking a short boat ride over to the mainland guarded by Water Elementals and huge (I mean FREAKING HUGE!!) green giants farting bubbles.
Come on! Who can’t help but laugh at green bubble farting giants! A classic! The you reach the interior, the green mist, foilage. So much mystery. There something more happening ther but yo just can’t put your finger on it. Yeah, maybe this is my all time favorite zone.
But then I head to Outlands and I’m blown away again. Here I love the peacefulness of pastures of Nagrand. There’s so many times I’d just fly up to one of the floating rocks turn of chat and just enjoy the scenery. It really is a great place to recharge your soul.
And before you know it, you’re charged with heading out to Northrend. Now this is an interesting place. Unlike Classic wow that I’ve leveled through 4 times and Outlands 3 times. I’ve only seen Northrend one time before. And you know what? I’m struggling with really liking this place. But I think that’s the point really. With the Lich King right there it’s hard to find a place that you can camp out and say “Ah..” That being said I guess I’m torn between Howling Fjord and Grizzly Hills. Something about both of those make me want to call it home. And if I had to choose between the two
So there you have it. I honestly can’t just choose one. And if I’m forced, I guess it would be Feralas. But please, don’t force me to choose.
What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Hmm.. Am I too old for Santa to bring me one of those mega gaming laptops from DogHouse Systems? Yeah, I thought so, but hey didn’t hurt to ask right?
Okay, so with that out of the question. All I really hope to have in 2010 that I didn’t have in 2009 in the game is an overflowing friends list. So much of this year has been spent on 3 different servers that I haven’t had the opportunity to make new friends. But now that I’m settled with Concedo Nulli on Khadghar maybe that’ll change. I’ve already got to meet and play with one new friend!
And besides, isn’t Blizzard suppose to be implementing the new Battle.net chat system? That’ll be pretty cool also. Adding old friends while making new friends would be (how does Pike say it?) “The bestest thing evar!” or something like that.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
(Cheats and looks ahead.) Yep, you ask the follow-up. Okay,
This is like the whole, “What’s your favorite place you visited?” question, so not fair.
Okay, here’s my absolute biggest achievement. Having the pleasure to help earn over $10k for Child’s Play. Being a part of the Children’s Week Charity Auction and earning over $2,500 in a scant 3 weeks. Then being a part of Azeroth United’s Hearts, Hands and Voices seeing that earning over $7,900 would have to be it.
What was your biggest failure?
Ouch! Honesty time. Okay, here it goes. My biggest failure would have to be not lasting longer at WoW.com. The stuff there isn’t my best work. I know it, you guys know it.
That’s life right? We take our failures, learn from then so we can then turn them into our biggest achievements ever!
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
You knew I was going to say that right?
Having the opportunity to meet everyone from the Twitterverse, Blog Azeroth, Podcast land!
Fimlys and Nibuca from Twisted Nether!
Not to mention the opportunity to meet awesome folks like Patrick and Turpster! (If you’re asking yourself, “Who are these guys?” Stop reading now. No I mean it! And go download Movielicious. No, it’s not WoW, but you’ll find out why it was a true honor!)
Heck! I even had the opportunity to meet fellow hunters, rogues, and yes even a druid or two. Not to mention couple of the cutest warlocks! (You guys all know who you are! And you rock!)
BLIZZCON!! Hands down was absolutely the biggest and most exciting thing of the year!
What do you wish you’d done less of?
I probably wish I did less Twitter. lol Just kidding. I love you guys!
This is a bit of a tough one though. Because I’m not sure theres anything about the game I wish I did less of.
I could say less leveling, but then I’d not be so close to 80 I can smell it.
Now out of game, I probably could’ve done less procrastination. Man! Am I bad at that. I procrastinate EVERYTHING it seems. I have about 10 20 Questions interviews I want to do but keep putting them off due forone reason or another.
And I still want to do a solid launch of Gaming Studio Network. I think that has a ton of potential and just needs some focused time on it.
So yeah, procrastinating. That’s what I wish I did less of.
To Close
Okay, so here we are. I kinda feel like I was put through the wringer a little bit. A guess that’s a sign of a good meme or interview. I had to do a bit of soul searching. Yet, at the same time managed to have some fun doing it. So here’s what to take away boys and girls.
Don’t procrastinate. Doing so may interfere with you being able to pursue your dreams. And pursuing your dreams can lead you towards achieving the best things in life.
From checking off that once in a life time opportunity, to finding out it doesn’t take a lot of money to do amazing things. Heck, I’ve heard of more than one person finding the love of their life in this game. But if they procrastinated, they might not have ever realized it.
SO there you go. I guess another way to put those last 2 paragraphs would be “Carpe Diem!”
Now it’s your turn. Have a blog? Well then I tag you. Don’t have a blog? Feel free to answer these questions below in the comments.
And Nochecazador! Thanks for the tag! Just remember, I owe you man!
